Murder Mystery

Welcome

Welcome to my Birthday Murder Mystery.

For those who have never enjoyed a murder mystery before it is a fun experience.

Attendees have been invited to the reading of the last sacrilege of Viktor Von Sargen, a Vampire Lord and leader of his clan. The setting is in a far gloomy town called Paino in the lair of the re-deceased.

Everyone in attendance has been invited there by the zombie attorney, Dirt Napper.

Game Structure

The game will take place in four segments.

Pre-Game: Materials will be delivered to all players, some players may need to contact another player and drop a clue, in addition the players will need to watch a couple of videos to fill in some details and set the stage for the eventual evening.

First Round: The game commences in person at the Viktor’s lair in Paino, during this time clues that will be needed to solve the murder will be shared amongst players. Appetizers and entertainment will abound.

Second Round: At some point in the first round a Murder will occur. At this point someone will die (this time permanently) and the rest of the party will need to figure out who the murderer is. More clues will be given, evidence will be found around the Lair and often on the body itself. The main course will be served at this time.

Final Round: Each Party goer will make their guesses based on the evidence they have collected.

Costumes

Each character has their own distinct style and appearance based off their character. Players are welcome to design their own costumes and wear what is appropriate? If you’re a mad scientist, a lab coat will not be a bad prop. The head of a clan, come dressed to the nines with a cape. If nothing else a little fake blood and a set of fangs will go a long way along with some dark clothing.

FAQ

  • If I die am I out of the game? No, especially with the theme of the party if you are the victim, you will either exist as a corpse, maybe a ghost. You will have clues and information to provide to the other players and still be able to participate, you might just be limited to a single room or location where your body lays.
  • Am I the killer? Maybe, the killer is so good at their deed, even they don’t know that they are the killer.
  • Am I the victim? Maybe, does someone have a reason to want you dead?
  • Do I need to be Sherlock Holmes? No, but it helps, clues will be given and only through deduction will you be able to identify the murderer. Keep track of clues.
  • Can I lie? No, you can conceal, obfuscate, avoid, or otherwise try not to answer information you are supposed to conceal.
  • Do I have to reveal everything? There are 2 sets of information, one that you would prefer to conceal and one set that you need to give out, while most clues will be given twice just in case a player forgets or doesn’t show up there is a great deal of clue necessity in giving out all information on your sheet.
  • Can you give an example of clue necessity?
    • In the last round of a murder mystery it has come out that William was slain by King Cobra venom.
    • Tim, a Doctor, has on his card that the puncture site is from a large gauge medical needle such as used in laboratories and not a fang.
    • John and Peter have a King Cobra farm and raises the snakes, but Patrick and Toby work in an anti-venom laboratory and has access to the venom and antidote.
    • There will be further clues implicating John and Patrick.
    • Without Tim’s information players will have a 50/50 guess between the two, but with the information it lets them form a better solution.
  • Will clues be hidden? Clues will be in plain sight for the most part, this isn’t a Room Escape, there is no need to toss the property.
